This weeks question. Can I remove stones from bunkers ? The answer to last weeks question is :- Whether the ball is cleaned is a question of fact. The action of putting the ball into a pocket can result in the ball being cleaned and any doubt should be resolved against the player. In both match play and stroke play the player would incur a 1 stroke penalty if it were considered that he has cleaned his ball. This is a view taken from the Clubhouse balcony looking towards the 18th tee. Is there a better view in Bowral? The weather after the rain has been beautiful, typical Autumn days and with daylight saving still in place why would you want to be anywhere else. Enjoy the longer days while they last even if not on the course make the most of our club's facilities while this balmy weather lasts. Sunday 21st March 2010 when the final of the Mixed Foursomes Championship and the Wotton Trophy were played. Two teams Maggie and Ian McKenzie and Bev Clayton and Sam Hunt tied on 180 points in the Foursomes Championship. Maggie and Ian, having played early, left the course thinking they would not be in contention. However as often is the case the leaders from the first round fell away leaving a tie. The conditions of play state that in the case of a tie a sudden death play off on the 1st and the 18th holes will take place until a winner emerges. Frantic phone calls were made to Maggie and Ian's home and mobile, leaving messages for them to return to the club by 5.15pm or the match would be forfeited. Fortunately they retrieved the call and arrived back at the club in time for the play to take place. The 1st was halved and play moved to the 18th. The men took their turn to hit off. Ian hit a good drive on the left of the fairway some 30 metres short of the bridge. Sam stepped up to the plate and blasted his ball down the middle some 20 metres over the bridge in the middle of the fairway,Bev's second shot pin high to the left of the green virtually sealed the championship, Bev and Sam winning when Sam holed a testing 1.5metre putt to close out the match. Congratulations to both teams for an exciting finish to this great event. There was also a tie for the Wotton Trophy, this being decided on a count back with Carol and Alan Turpie edging out Anne and Peter Keys by 0.25 of a point. Coming Events. Autumn Cup Sunday 28th March 2010 11am shotgun start Until next week, good golfing.
