James Burkitt (12) was the runner up also with a +6
J M Stanford Trophy.
The trophy is an Antique Edinburgh Whisky Crystal Decanter. the tradition is that the winner of the trophy fills it with a good scotch whisky and leaves it on the bar for the rest of the day for member's consumption. Last year's winner was Jim Dickson

Last Tuesday, Peter Gill, using his professional surveying skills and a Topcon electronic distance meter re-measured the course distance markers. Many distance marks were missing and now these will be produced and attached to the sprinkler heads. We went down each fairway that had been marked out in the past from about 200 metres in. You can see in the photo how rugged up Peter was, I can vouch it was bitterly cold but now it's done. Thank you Peter for your assistance in getting this done.
Rate Relief
Last Wednesday Ian McKenzie, Kevin Kenny and I attended the Moss Vale Chambers of the Council during the Council meeting. Under the Public Forum Participaion provision I had the opurtunity of addressing the Council with the reasons why we thought we have a special case for rate relief. Prior to this Ian and I had written to the Council asking for their consideration for rate relief and on Wednesday the Councillors were due to vote on this matter.
The main points of our arguments were that the golf club has been built and maintained with member’s money and is available for the public to use both from within and outside the Shire, whereas the majority of the other sporting facilities in the Highlands have been built and are maintained by Council and can be accessed free or at a nominal cost.
I covered a number of points and went on to say that we have now taken action to arrest the decline of our club and these trends are very encouraging but, at the same time, every avenue is being examined to improve the position of the club financially. The Council resolved, voting on an amended resolution, that they meet with us and that the staff would review our rates structure. (read the council minutes by clicking here – page 33 )We felt that we got a fair and sympathetic hearing and we are hoping for a favourable outcome.

Bowral Golf Club has been referred to as “the green lungs of Bowral”. The town has this wonderful community asset in the heart of Bowral and we want it to be here forever.
I will keep you informed of progress.
Gentlemen, all the best.
