A wonderful meal cooked by chef Tony Capps and entertainment by Julie Blanchard made for a very enjoyable evening. Pictured is the Captains Trophy won on Saturday by John Conolly (23) with a nett score of 65 on a count back from Jonathon Hawke (23). John is now the proud owner of a unique trophy which is his to keep. The versatility of this item, although past its normal use by date, means that every day he can be reminded of his triumph. Congratulations John. After two delays the Captain v Captain match was played on Sunday 29th of August. Two teams of 16 ladies and 16 men contested the event resulting in a tie, 548 points each. . Judy Mawby was the leading lady with 39 points while Don Barker led the men with 43 points. People of interest I would suggest Mr Handicapper. Our annual coring of the greens commenced today. We hope the inconvenience to golfers will be minimal. With the onset of spring our course will be in the best condition ever. The two putt rule will be in force for a week or so until the greens settle down. Coming Events,
The on again off again Oxley Plate is on again. The game will be played on Sunday September 12th at Bowral. A sign on sheet will be on the notice board tomorrow. We need a good turn out to win the trophy back from Moss Vale. Due to the greens renovations the September monthly medal will be played on Saturday the 18th. Fellow Members, A short blog this week with a couple of reminders of events that will affect play on the course over the next couple of weeks. Our yearly greens renovation program commences on Monday 30th August. We anticipate the greens will require the two putt rule for a week or so depending on the weather conditions. The new 15 tee will be in operation as from this Saturday for the Captains Trophy. The practice putting green has a new look thanks to the generosity of a member who wishes to remain anonymous. What I can say about this benefactor is that he is a a past President and has recently been inducted into a National Hall of Fame. I know a lot of dodgy knees and creaking backs will heave a huge sigh of relief. These photos are before and after the new flags, a marked improvement visually as well as operationally. Sunday the 5th of September is the closing date for the John Owens Four ball knockout Memorial Trophy. Please enter your names on the sign up sheet on the easle notice board in the club house. Wedneaday 8th September Open Day - A single event will be played in conjunction with the listed 2BBB Stableford. Single cards will be issued and entered in the computer. The Team score will then be collated by the computer and shown on the leader board. If this is successful all future 2 ball events will be played in conjunction with a single event to bring us into line with most other clubs allowing handicaps to be adjusted on all events. New guidelines have been issued under the new handicap system whereby all players scores will be reviewed in (4) 2 Ball events. Invitations to play in the Boxmor Trophy 4BBB Stableford (Presidents Team v Captains Team) on September 25th will be posted this week. Naturally you all want to be on the Captains team however I have insisted all players will be allotted evenly except of course past Presidents and Captains will play for their respective teams. There will be no team stacking well not much anyway.
