Fellow Members, Our course remains in top class condition in spite of Winter really setting in and some really heavy frosts over the past few days. The days following heavy frosts are usually beautiful with ideal conditions for golf so I urge you to make the most of these conditions and make full use of our beautiful course. Fields of 48 on Wednesday and 53 on Saturday are a bit disappointing but I understand the cold weather makes it easier and more comfortable to stay inside. You will have received an email from Alex Nicholson regarding the junior program commencing on 6th July. I see this program as being very important to the future of BGC and if any member can see their way clear to assist, give Alex or Tony a call. Alex has completed the AGU requirements and is accredited to officially run this junior/cadet program. I would on behalf of the Board and all members like to thank him for taking on this duty. It is always better to have too many helpers than not enough so if you can help please do so. The 13th hole will be out of play today June 30th due to the work being done on the pond, bridge and the creek in front of the green. When completed and the pond stocked with Koi kindly donated by Jim Dickson the 13th will become one of the showpieces of the course Coming Events This Saturday 3rd July 2010 - Monthly Medal, single stroke event. Saturday 10th July 2010 - J M Stanford Trophy, individual par event. Until next week, keep your head down, banish shanks and good golfing.
David Stanley Captain Who plays the provisional ball in a foursome competition?
Answer to last weeks question - The area in which to drop a ball under Rule 28c must be measured from where the ball lies, not from the outside edge of the perceived unplayable condition. Single Stableford - Field of 553 players - CCR68 Winner - David McGinness (18) 39 points c/b Runner Up - Grant Blanchard (25) 39 points Eagles Nest - John Cummins 8 balls NTP 11th - A. Bayliss (vis) NTP 14th - M. Vallely (vis)
This weeks question; If I choose to take relief under Rule 28c - that is, drop a ball within two club-lengths no nearer the hole, where do I measure the two club-lengths from?
Answer to last weeks question; No. The player must return to where he last played and put the ball into play under penalty of stroke and distance - see Rule 27-1 Third Round Wednesday Trophy - Single Stroke - Field of 48 players - CCR68 Winner - Harry Caust (17) nett 66 Runner Up - John Jones (15) nett 67 Eagles Nest - Not Won NTP 11th - John Gaudry NTP 14th - Brian Hanrahan
Fellow Members, I' m back, albeit on light duties. I can start driving (car) again in three weeks as well as chipping an putting and back on the course proper in late August. it's a long time to wait but if I am diligent practising chipping and putting during that time I would hope to give my handicap a nudge, down that is. Sorry Frank for another delay. at least thanks to Tony you all have been kept up to date with the scores. Weather permitting work on the 13th pond will be completed on June the 29th, with rocks lining the green side wall, a new bridge and the gutter cleaned out to the willow tree on th 16th. Heavy rain has thwarted our two previous attempts to complete this project so let's hope third time lucky. The photo shows work in progress.

Congratulations to John Cummins, Bill Pope and Bob Kemp on their win in the Three Man Aggregate Stableford on Wednesday 16th June. 105 points was good enough by just a single point
