Is an ant hill a loose impediment? Answer to last weeks question; In match play, if you are unsure how to proceed, can you play a second ball? No. If a member of the committee is not available, you must continue the match without delay by proceeding in a manner that you believe is in line with the rules. If your opponent disagrees with this, the opponent can make a claim. The claim must be made before either player plays from the next tee or, in the case of the last hole of the match, before all players leave the putting green (Rule 2-5) This is the humble Pie section of the Egg on your Face Department. At last Saturdays presentation and in my blog I announced Harry Caust as the winner of the over 65 Veterans Trophy, This was wrong as a subsequent check of the scores revealed that in actual fact the winner is Eddie Jones. Eddie had rounds of nett 64 and 75 a total of 139. Harry had rounds of nett71 and 76 total 147. Harry has graciously accepted my humble apology and congratulated Eddie on his win. The trouble is Eddie you look so young. Last Sunday teams from Killara, Oatlands, Kogarah, Moss Vale and our own Bowral members competed for the Bowral Teams Shield. The weather was kind after Saturday and 75 players enjoyed a very pleasant day. One of our members, Chris Harvey the owner of Mt. Ashby Estate wines very generously donated some of his premium wines for the winners of our visitors event. Thanks Chris it was a very generous commitment. FYI - Mt. Ashby Estate Winery is open for lunch Friday to Sunday, and from the reports I've heard it is well worth a visit. Phone 4869 4792. The winners of the Bowral Team Shield with an aggregate score of 85 points were Alex Dowling, David Mathers and Leah & David Boyd pictured above with Neville Ridge who organised the day and with wife Betty donated the Shield. STOP PRESS Unfortunately the Pro vs Pro skins scheduled for this Sunday 24th Oct has had to be posponed, With the emphasis for sponsorship going towards the Legends Senior Classic we have been unable to secure a sponsor for this event. Our intention is to stage the Pro Skins game unti Jan/Feb next year. $2000 will cover the costs so if anybody has any ideas we will be happy to listen to them . COMING EVENTS Sunday 31st October Halloween (why do we celebrate Halloween?) is a mixed medley fun event, 3 clubs and a putter that's all the clubs you are allowed. You may come in fancy dress suitable for the occasion if you wish but do book in it will be a good day.
