Gentlemen, what a wonderful day to play golf. Nairn Golf Club is a famous golf club in Scotland, the home of golf. John and Paul were on a golfing holiday in Scotland and Ireland and took the opportunity to visit Nairn Golf Club. Nairn, is the club that our past Patron Jim Draper was a member when he won the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1954. His name can be seen in the honour board just above Paul's head in the photo. Here is a link to Nairn click here John scored 35 point at Nairn and he is now on a 7 handicap. Well done John and thank you both for the photo. all the best
Kevin My apologies gentlemen - there was issue with the computer system that prevented timely posting of them.
Kevin Gentlemen - just a note for tomorrow's 2 man Ambrose. You may remember how last year how this event took long it took. This year you will find a note on your card as follows. Having a swinger in a three ball Ambrose really delays the field.
Normal comp fees will apply. More tomorrow night. Kevin September's Monthly Medal was played in beautiful spring conditions. A Grade winner Frank Eggert also won the Mercedes prize. Well done Frank. Our secretary/manager Kevin Kenny plays, when possible, in the Wednesday competition. I have been fortunate to play with him and he shows what is possible on our golf course. Kevin, when he plays, pays the normal comp. fee plus the Pro-Pin entry fee but any winnings, e.g. for the Pro-Pin, he puts on the bar or if there is a ball prize he gives to his fellow competitors - very generous. The Max Allen Memorial Trophy was played for, in conjunction with the monthly medal - the photo shows Frank Eggert accepting the trophy from former Captain Brian Lamb My thanks to Don Barker and Brian Lamb for doing the Saturday presentations. My thanks to Kevin for doing the Wednesday competition presentations. I'll be back this coming Wednesday.
Kevin Kenny has sent me photographs on the progress made on the new tee on the 2nd and the removal of the mound on the 18th. The mounds on the 18th trapped water so after some consideration we decided it was best to remove them to allow better drainage. This soil was then used to construct the new 2nd tee. The tee on the 2nd was always miniscule - a small tee area wears very quickly but once the new tee is in operation we will have a much larger area to put the tee markers. With the new handicapping system the course must measure, on any day, within a 100m of the "official" - in our case, 5406m. With the new tee on the 2nd, we will have an area of about 6m behind the plates so we can introduce some variation, having some holes shorter and some longer. From the back of the tee at the 2nd the hole will be very different especially for our A and B Grade golfers. all the very best Kevin |
