This is a busy time of the year for everyone, my apologies for my blog being late.
Last Saturday the 18th, Dec was our annual Christmas Parent and Offspring event which proved to be a popular day with 90 players taking part. Thank you to those members who brought along family to play with, so competing for the "Secretary's Plate"
John Cummins and son-in-law Rob Stefanic were the winners returning 48 points. Congratulations!!!
As you would all recall John's daughter and Rob were only married a few short weeks ago. Now BGC "Puttie" leaks is releasing emails which show that the happy couple were in fact due to be married early in 2011. There is also a raft of messages showing that John brought presssure to bear by offering inducements for the wedding to be brought forward, so Rob, quite an accomplished golfer, could play with him in this Trophy competition. As one of the damning leaks reveal the inducements included supplying the bar at the reception with Premium Crown Lager and French Champagne instead of the VB stubbies he originally promised the couple. Two separate emails addressed to RP & BW suggesting that if they with their family partners were to find the heavy course and the greens a bit hard to handle there would be a sizeable amount of the said PCL made available to them. As history shows both teams of BW & RW (previous winners) and RP & JH finished well down the field while JC & RS triumphed. These purported leaks have not at this stage been substantiated however rumour has it that the engraving has been suspended pending a judicial enquiry. Should further leaks prove that skullduggery has taken place the Trophy will go to the team of DS and his grandfather GB. Watch this space for further news.
There were many novelty prizes on offer (winners see the result blog) which were
awarded at the presentation where finger food was served to a very convivial crowd. A very enjoyable day and evening and my heartfelt thanks to all who participated.
My sincere thanks also to Trudy who purchased and wrapped the prizes and prepared the finger food. No small task.
Breaking News;
Due to more than one event of the "Senior Legends" tour being cancelled due to inclement weather the PGA have rescheduled these events for January 2011.
Our event will now be played on Monday 10th January and we hope that all players who had previously booked will be available to play. We also hope that the professionals who were to play will still be available. Tony White will be issuing an email and be posting detailed information regarding the event on the notice boards.
Wednesday 22nd December - Our last competition before Christmas, is to be a 2BBB Stableford played with only 3 clubs and a putter and please note clubs CANNOT be shared. we are hoping for a large turnout as this should be a fun day and in the past has proved very popular.
May your drives be long and straight, your chips precise and your putts be true,
your minds be clear and your scores be low. If your frustration is high be consoled for when you stand on the 18th tee there is a licenced premesis in sight, where we can lie to each other when the round is over.(An old golfers blessing)
Until we meet again, Good Golfing and a very Merry Christmas to you and your families.
Best Wishes
David Stanley
