For example, say the the player's ball lies a hundred metres from the hole and he is standing in casual water. The player is entitled to relief without penalty from the casual water under rule 25-1. The player should imagine the casual water is not there and simply select which club he would normally hwith from that position - for example, a pitching wedge. The pitching wedge, therefore, would be the correct club to use in order accurately determine the nearest point of relief.
On the other hand. in measuring a one or two club-length dropping area (depending on the Rule), the player may use any club.
