Today we had 34 visitors playing on the course, some I talked to came from Royal Sydney (1 gentleman had come within a shot of the course par and wanted to try and better it). Another 2 gentlemen really liked the "old style" charm of the golf course, saw the greens as very fast, was surprised at the number we had on the green's staff and very much enjoyed the conviviality of the club house. (They heard my rather extended presentation ! I don't know when they drew their conclusion)
Next month we have the June Monthly Medal. Through the generosity of Macarthur Mercedes we will be offering a prize for the lowest handicapped score (of all three grades) for each month through to December. The prize each month will be something that Macarthur Mercedes provides to us, e.g. an umbrella, 2 signature wine glasses etc. The Ted Box Medal of Medals will have an additional prize of a Mercedes Car Hire for the Weekend. To this the Captain will add lunch for two at the club, complete with a bottle of wine. This is a great gesture by Macarthur Mercedes and I hope that we can work with them throughout the years.
Damian and team have completed the steps going up to the 13th tee, not in line with Don Barker's drawing, as previously advised, but certainly easier to navigate than before. Thanks Don, for your input.
Tree on the 5th Whilst mowing the rough near the 5th on Thursday Damian alerted me to the fact that a tree (approximately 30m from the green) was now leaning at an angle with the roots coming up through the surface. We decided immediately that the tree must be removed for safety. Essentially the removal took from Thursday after morning tea and was completed within the day. Thank you to the Ladies Competition for their understanding. |
The first full Match & Greens Meeting was held last Thursday and it was decided that:
There will be a practice area in the vicinity of the 10th tee for those players starting from the 10th. This will be marked out and a local rule published once the signs are ready.
It was also decided that the croquet green needs some protection and that there would be signs posted so the people starting from number one tee do not use the croquet green for practice. As above once the signs are ready we will publiah the advice.
Thank you for your time - all the best, gentlemen.
