Daily Scratch Rating is a calculation performed at GOLFLink from the daily scores returned from your club. The GOLFLink computer will review the day’s score and compare them to what it believes is a “normal” set of scores that your club would return, and if there is a variance that it determines is significant, will apply a further adjustment in the calculation of the change in the GA Handicap of the players for whom scores have been returned.
The purpose of DSR is to account for differing conditions through the day and determine whether a DSR adjustment is to be applied in the calculation of the player's handicap adjustment. By default the day will be split into a morning and afternoon grouping.
There are a couple of important points to note:
- The upload of scores to GOLFLink will change to send the entire day’s scores as a single batch, rather than sending individual competitions. It is preferable that GOLFLink has the entire compliment of day’s scores to calculate DSR values. (In fact clubs will be able to over-ride this in some circumstances, but the predominant method will be a daily upload.)
- By default the players for any given day will be split into 2 DSR batches within the overall field of players. This will be AM and PM, however there will be the ability for the club to modify the point at which the DSR batches split, and indeed to have just a single batch for the day if applicable.
- Because the DSR batch needs to be split based on when the players played, it will be important to accurately record the specific tee time of each player and maintain these in correct chronological order.
While GOLFLink will require daily scores to be sent in a single batch, competition results calculated and displayed at the club will be competition-based as per the current model. Similarly, prize allocation will remain competition-based.
