The posting of this blog entry was a little bit late - my apologies, in excuse 'a busy day'.
Last Wednesday a group of 7 visited our club. We received a very nice "thank you" from them. The email from Terry Donkin follows ........
To Club Captain,
During this week a group of seven friends arranged a golf trip to the Southern Highlands. Being a member of this group I felt obliged to write and thank you and all the members present on last Wednesday ,for the opportunity to share your facilities and their company. We were invited to take part in your competition and afterwards to join you in the Members Room. We were all very impressed by the welcoming attitude and warmth shown to us by the members. It was a pleasure only received from your club. We had a most enjoyable afternoon on the golf course made all that much more enjoyable by being able to share the company of your members and the gracious ambience of your club.
Thank you very much
Terry Donkin
We are all very proud of our club - to invite and show visitors is for us all, a real pleasure. I am sure that many who visit enjoy the warmth of the welcome.
Thank you Terry for your visit.
Today we had the Club Championship finals. Tomorrow I will add to this entry the results and photos. The finals were played in beautiful weather with just a little rain in the afternoon.
Monday morning update
After lunch, play recommenced at 12:15 Damian getting to 4 up and then back to 3 up by the 5th. Brian's caddy was his son Rory, a very good golfer, and then on the 5th another trophy winner at Bowral, Andrew Fairbairn, assisted a car asking for directions. They wanted to know if this was the PGA - such was the standard of golf! A few halved holes and by the 9th Damian was +3. On the 10th Brian put his drive down to within a few metres of the bell. Damian took the option of going over the trees, landing about 100m from the green. Brian's second shot landed to the right of the green, he chipped on and one-putted to win the hole.
Damian remained 2 up until by the 13th he went to 4 up. Brian won the 14th. On the 15th Brian got another hole back, Damian was then at +2. The 16th was halved and they both went to the 17th with Damian dormie. On the 17th Brian pulled his drive to hit the trees on the left, Damian's drive went wide and ended on the 4th fairway. Brian's 2nd shot ended up down near Damian's ball and Damian hit a wedge to end up just shy of the green. Brian's shot ended just off the back of the green. Brian took his putt. The putt was shy of the hole and Brian conceded the match to Damian. Damian being the Club Champion for 2012.
Both Brian and Damian were supported by their families and many interested club members.
The Bowral Golf Club 2012 Championship Final was a great match.
My thanks to both Don Barker and Ron Campbell for refereeing.
The Draws have been up dated now (Tuesday 4th) - thank you Frank for preparing the slides.

In January we'll review the stroke index of holes on the course. The last time this was looked at and set was 2 years ago and it is felt by some that a more equitable index should be sought. I ask for a small group of people able to lend time to investigate our present stoke index and see if any improvement can be made . Two players from each of the grades would be ideal. I would be pleased to have any volunteers email me directly.
It is shotgun start at 1pm followed by a BBQ - cooked by the board - at 6pm. You don't have to play golf to come to the BBQ. Last date for the sign up for golf is Thursday (that's to allow time to do the draw for tee start positions and inform players)
The following week is the
Ted Box Medal of Medals. All Monthly Medal winners compete in this handicap Stroke event. Jim Dickson was the first winner in 1985
The winner of the trophy also receives the use of a Mercedes car for the weekend from our sponsors Macarthur Mercedes and a lunch or dinner for 2 at the club sponsored by the Captain.
The Peter Tait Trophy is a 2 round aggregate stroke event and is played over two rounds in conjunction with the Dec Monthly Medal and the Ted Box - Medal of Medals
Please remember about the BBQ. It will be an enjoyable evening.
all the best and good golfing.
Kevin
