The winners of the Patron's Trophy, which is a handicap event, were Tony Hobson and Terry McAuliffe who had a 70 nett.
It was a small field of 44 players. Foursomes is a very quick game and we were back in the clubhouse by the fire in well under 3 hours with the expectation that we were not expected home until the normal time - about 6pm.
The top 8 pairs (gross scores) qualify for the knockout format Foursomes Championship. The draw for this will be published later this week.
Next year we may play two comps - one for the foursomes and one for the members who do not wish to compete in the foursomes. Perhaps a stableford in the morning and the foursomes in the afternoon.
Shortly the pro-shop will be compiling the results for the mens competitions as well as phoning the results through to the papers. The Card Sharps have done an excellent job but the idea is that the pro-shop take responsibility for the complete competition, leaving the members to enjoy the clubhouse at the completion of a round. We may expect some hiccups until everyone is used to the new system - patience is rewarded. The time taken to produce the results from the competition is dependant on many things, not the least being the prompt entry of scores into the computer touch screens (especially by the last few players) and putting the card into the score card box. We'll work out a system how this can be expedited.
