At our club we play a range of competitions. The new year's program is being put together now. In the men's program we play stableford predominately. In the longer days of daylight saving we will play more 4BBB stablefords as many members have requested. In the coming year it is intended to play them as a 'Single Stableford in conjunction with 4BBB Stableford'. The way this will work is that every player scores as in a single stableford - the player's card marker records the player's score for each hole. The computer scoring system then produces a 'better ball' card for the pair. Prizes will be awarded for the first prize in the Better Ball contest and for the Single Stableford. The advantage with this sort of arrangement is that each player can be handicapped on their round. (At present only a player's 4BBB card is considered when the player has been on the card 9 times or more with a 4BBB score of better than 42 points or more.) Many clubs in Sydney play a 4BBB stableford like this. We will be playing our first 'Single Stableford in conjunction with 4BBB Stableford' this year on Wednesday 11th December.
- Players will book in exactly the same way.
- Each player will be issued with 1 score card.
- The player's marker - which can be anyone in the group, will record the player's score and the marker's score - 'no better ball' score is recorded on the card.
- Each player enters their score into the computer.
- The computer works out the better ball score with the player's partner.
- All players are entered in both competitions.
- Swingers not permitted
- In a group where one of the players has not got a partner for the 4BBB then a partner will be selected randomly - first from other players who do not have a partner and then from all of the players in the filed.
- Handicap adjustments are calculated from the Single Stableford score only.
- ... and as per Golf Australia advice. - "If both partners are playing in the individual competition, they may not exchange advice." So that means in our case no player in our comp, when we are playing this type of event, can advise or exchange advice
