The winner

We have reverted to the old system that many members prefer. Ball winners now have the choice of taking a ball at the time of the presentation after the competition or having the ball value credited to their account. With the new computer server and BePoz 'Point of Sale 'system the handling of the ball winners is controlled much better and this enabled us to revert to the old system with, this time, proper stock control.
The last ball winner was determined by a count back.
The list of teams and their starting tees will be available in the pro-shop.
The starting tee position is on the left hand side next to the name.
Members and Visitors are requested to comply with the following
rules when using carts on the Course. Prior to hiring a Club cart, an
agreement form must be signed at the Pro Shop and the rules adhered to.
1. Under no circumstances is alcohol to be consumed whilst in control of a motorised cart.
2. Carts must not be driven within ten (10) metres of a green or
between bunkers and the green, nor driven onto any teeing areas.
3. Carts must not be parked in front of greens.
4. Carts must be driven carefully, avoiding slopes on which the cart
could capsize.
5. Avoid damp or worn areas.
6. Follow all directional signs and park carts in the designated areas at the side of fairways.
7. Do not transport more than two people in a cart.
8. Wherever possible, carts are to be driven in the rough or off closely mown portions
9. When using carts, consideration must be given to other players.
10. A Drivers Licence or Proof of Age ID Card will need to be sighted.
Minimum age of all drivers MUST be 18 years old. This is an
insurance requirement.
The reason for those two rules are that driving carts on the fairways compacts the soil. This compaction then inhibits growth and the end result of that is the grass doesn't grow so well and the fairways end up being very substandard. Early next year we will be hiring an 'earthquake machine' which inserts thin tines into the ground and shakes them - this breaks up the compaction to some extent. Driving near the green compacts the soil there and this inhibits the drainage from the green. These rules are common in many clubs and with our soil types and grasses they are very necessary.
Our fairways are very good. We are never going to stop all visitors from driving on the fairways, especially some casual golfers - if you know what I mean, but if we members remember to drive in the rough and stay away from the greens it will be a big help. It's the remembering that's the thing.
The Monthly Medal is this Saturday.
all the best
