The Monthly Medal for October will be held in conjunction with the first round of qualifying for the club championships on the 20th of October.
The trial of '4 to a time slot' will finish at the end of the month and following the board meeting at the end of the month the decision about when we will have 4 balls or 3 balls will be published. It may be obvious but in order to ascertain how our fields would work with a 4 ball format we had to try it. Without the trial we would not be able to draw, what are now, obvious conclusions. Opinions from the members are welcomed and these are valued inputs to the trial.
While on this subject of opinions (and to use an 'americanism') negativity in a club with continued fault finding, whinging and such like is very very wearing and divisive. If there is a problem bring it up with the board member responsible or the manager and then leave it and move on. Here is an extract of something I presented to the board and match & greens committee at the start of this board's term. It's probably bad form to quote one's self however :-
"There are many ways of doing things, many preferences, points of view about issues, perspectives etc. There may be things that are totally unimportant to some when forming a view on something but what to others are the critical issues. It is not necessary to be in agreement on all subjects – of course it isn’t. If so we would all have the same ‘best car’, like the same favourite food, go to the same ‘best place’ etc etc.
Once a decision is made then we all have to get behind it.
Less than full support and continual public questioning and discussions on the wisdom of decisions of the board do not help the club or anyone. It results in a fractious club, a club that some people do not like or want to remain in.
Don't worry, relax, be happy, enjoy and we have what we all want - a happy and therefore a successful club."
We have a wonderful club let's keep it that way - a good positive attitude does wonders. The sky is still blue.
all the best gentlemen,
Kevin
